Every week I get some version of the same message. "Bro, this advice doesn't work for me, I'm just ugly."

And look, I'm not going to lie to you. Your face matters. A lot. I've said it before and I'm not walking it back now. Anyone selling you "looks don't matter" is selling cope.

But here's what I notice about the guys who send me that message.

The haircut is three months overdue. The beard line is wherever it decided to be. The shirt fits like it's borrowed. Skin's wrecked from an energy drink diet. And there's a gut forming that has nothing to do with genetics.

So which is it? Because that's not a face problem. That's five other problems wearing a face problem as a disguise.

There are five things about your appearance she notices, and every one of them is fully in your control.

Your grooming. Your body. Your teeth. Your skin. How you dress.

Your face is the hand you were dealt. These five are how you played it. And she can tell the difference instantly, because she's not reading the five as looks. She's reading them as information.

A guy who's groomed, dressed with intention, clear skin, in shape, is broadcasting something before he opens his mouth. This man handles himself. Nobody makes him do it. Nobody has to.

The guy who shows up unkept is broadcasting too. This man doesn't think he's worth the effort. And if you don't think you're worth the effort, she's not going to argue with you.

Here's the uncomfortable part. "I'm just ugly" is doing something for you. It's protection. If the problem is your face, nothing is your fault and you never have to try. The moment you admit the five exist, you've got homework. That's why the excuse feels so comfortable. It's a permission slip to stay exactly where you are.

The face sets your starting point. The five decide which direction you move from it. I've watched average-faced guys walk into rooms and win them, lean, sharp, dressed like it was a decision. You've watched it too. You called him lucky. He's not lucky. He just refused to lose points he didn't have to lose.

So grade yourself this week. One through ten on each. Grooming, body, teeth, skin, dress. Honest numbers, nobody's watching.

Take the lowest score and do one thing about it. Book the dentist. Fix the sleep. Buy one shirt that fits. One thing.

Reply with your lowest score and the one thing. Number and a sentence. I read everything.
